Aastha Singh
Basic Information
Aastha Singh is an Indian actress and trained Kathak dancer who made her feature film debut with Dharma Productions' Chaand Mera Dil, directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar. In the film, she played Jyotsna, the loyal best friend of Chandini, portrayed by Ananya Panday, sharing the screen with Lakshya.
Born and raised in Delhi in a conservative family of engineers, Aastha was the first in her family to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Her journey as a performer began at the age of six, when she started giving solo dance and singing performances on stage and participating in school plays. A professionally trained Kathak dancer, she remained academically strong throughout school while excelling in extracurricular activities including basketball, table tennis, and swimming.
After college, where she was actively involved in theatre, Aastha moved to Mumbai to pursue acting professionally. She began her career with advertisement commercials, gradually earning auditions from leading casting agencies. Her breakthrough came through Panchani Ghagri Casting, where she cleared two rounds of auditions to land the role of Jyotsna in Chaand Mera Dil — a moment she describes as "surreal," having grown up watching Dharma Productions films.
A self-made outsider with no industry connections, Aastha credits her elder sister as her strongest pillar of support. She cites Alia Bhatt as her biggest inspiration and dreams of working with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ideally in a historical drama set in the Mughal era or India's freedom struggle.
Aastha has also worked in web series and has completed shooting for an Amazon Prime Video series in a key role, marking her entry into a new genre. The series is expected to release by the end of 2026.
